If you are a single mom thinking about going back to school, then there is help for you. We have great news. There are single mom grants that you can apply for and they are just a few steps away from you. So, what do you need to know about them? Stick with us and we will help you.

The first thing to remember is that you will have to go about and fill out what is called the FASFA. This is the application for student aid. Here they look at all the things that you can use to pay for college. They then determine how much student aid you are eligible for. Once you have done this, you can start applying for grants.

The second step of applying for financial aid and getting grants for single moms is to start looking. Now, each state has assistance which is just for that state. For instance, most single mothers are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant. Then there are those organizations which give out grants like the Lily Foundation and more.

You must apply for every grant that you find. Each of them have their own requirements. You might have to go to a certain sort of college. There are some that are specifically for a type of degree that you must pursue. You must look through all these requirements and so forth so that you aren't wasting your time.

Then there are another type of grants. These are grants that are divided among single mothers as well as those who are minorities. Then you have those that are more geared towards particular circumstances like single mothers of teens and so forth. Some might even be age biased.

Now, there are a few ways that you can go about and find grants for single moms. There are many books out there that list all the grants that are offered and in these books they break them down according to categories in which they are based upon. You can apply for as many as you want and these books will tell you where to go to get an official application.

The other option you have is the internet. This is a popular way to go. There are sites that are dedicated to help you find just these sort of grants so that you aren't wasting your time looking through pages and pages of grants that don't even apply to you. One website that you can start is with the website of the college you are applying to.

If you are looking for a grant for a single mother, help is right around the corner. You just have to know where to look. Be sure to do your FASFA first though so you know how much financial aid you are eligible for. We have a site we think you should really check out.
